The Day of Poetry to Go!

To arrive at a vocabulary in terms of which

To characterize what happened to articulate

What conditions and forces brought it about

The casual mechanisms of memory the poet’s

Accounting for the antecedent unlikelihood

Of the event in question maybe asking how 

This outcome was possible rather than why

Necessary—these are the imperatives of poetry

Pretending to be history and hey whatever

Revs the engine not mine see I prefer not to 

Know where the Impala wants to go for a quick 

Thoughtless and not particularly healthy bite

That you can get and eat and never leave

Your car—that’s for me—the fast food poetic!
