Then We Open the Door and the Sound Washes Over the People

We have all faced this conundrum to encounter
Someone who should never have existed someone
Invisibly beside us nonetheless breathing quietly
What to do what to do with such a ghost? Shall we
Put on an album from 1982 maybe Roxy Music’s
Avalon O what a romantic album that was that’s
Absolutely not what we want right now how about
The Clash’s Combat Rock but no that’s just too
Too Clashy so what? Depeche Mode? Duran Duran?
How about The Cure’s Pornography? Now that’s
A thought a real wing-dinger—though deep down
Roxy Music thrills us more than all the rest we
Never admit it but we go for the obvious—no matter
Tonight it's Roxy Music we say what perfection
