Suffer the Child
A child of war is watching me. He has a wizened face. He is a muezzin of small desires, and his hands are folded wings. His parents are dead, and so is his brother. He dances by the river and swims to the sandbar. He bums menthol cigarettes from the Americans. God has forgotten his name.
